When the Police Commander got the opportunity, he first of all introduced himself as Supt. Abdullai Iddrisu who was posted from Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti Region. He added that he was not a stranger to the district since he used to work with the Deputy Regional Police Commander and that the Commander together with him and others paid working visits to all the Commands in the region. He asked for the co-operation and collaboration of members during his tenure of office to ensure a reduction in crime, peace and security of the district. The Police Commander then went on to informed members that he had to report on a shooting incident that happened at Numereso to the Regional Police Command. He mentioned that the security of the district at that moment was satisfactory but cautioned that extra measures should be put in place to reduce armed robbery, especially, along the roads. He went on to note with satisfaction that a notorious armed robber in the district who had been arrested had been successfully prosecuted by the Police and got conviction for him, saying the he had been jailed for 16 years. He assured members that he was going to stop at nothing to see criminals punished for their crimes, particularly armed robbers, noting that they are deadly and that he was going to ensure that he dealt ruthlessly with them. He continued by commending Management of the Assembly for giving him the needed support to carry out his responsibility since he assumed duty. He concluded by saying that he was posted to the district to contribute his quota to its development in terms of security, so all members should support him by giving appropriate information that would lead to the arrest of criminals.
