In a significant effort to boost agricultural productivity and improve the livelihoods of farmers, the District Assembly on Thursday, June 4, 2026, distributed various farm inputs to 150 farmers at a ceremony held at the courtyard of the Agriculture Department of the District Assembly.

Each beneficiary received:

• 2 bags of fertilizer

• 2 bottles of weedicide

• 3 pairs of Wellington boots

• 2 cutlasses

The support forms part of the Assembly’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector and empowering local farmers with the tools and resources needed to enhance their work on the field.

Addressing the gathering, the DCE emphasized that providing farmers with the necessary inputs is not only aimed at increasing crop production but also at improving food security and household incomes across the district.

He again noted that by equipping farmers with these essential resources, the Assembly is enabling them to cultivate nutritious food for homes and communities, generate small-scale income to support their families, and contribute meaningfully to the local economy.

The initiative is also expected to have a long-term social impact by encouraging the transfer of practical farming knowledge and skills to younger generations. According to the Assembly, exposing young people to agriculture and supporting farming activities will help nurture responsible, productive, and self-reliant citizens.

Beneficiary farmers expressed appreciation to the District Assembly and the Agriculture Department for the timely intervention, describing the support as a major relief, especially during a period of rising farming costs.
