Health officers and educational authorities have wrapped up an intensive HIV and AIDS sensitization drive across local Junior High Schools, empowering hundreds of young teenagers with vital health knowledge.

The outreach specifically targeted adolescents aged 13 to 17 across public basic schools in the District Capital and the nearby Fiankoma community. The initiative aimed to equip students with accurate, age-appropriate information about HIV transmission, prevention strategies, and reproductive health as they navigate their crucial teenage years.

During interactive sessions, health facilitators addressed common myths surrounding the virus, emphasized safe practices, and tackled social stigma to encourage compassion for People Living with HIV. Students were also educated on the importance of personal responsibility and health testing.

The program was executed in two coordinated phases to ensure maximum coverage across both urban and rural campuses. The campaign officially launched on Thursday, March 5, 2026, before resuming for an intensive full-week blitz from Monday, March 23 to Friday, March 27, 2026.

Local school heads and teachers praised the initiative, highlighting that direct and open health education provides students with the foundation needed to make informed choices for their futures.
