LAUNCHING OF FEED GHANA IN AMANSIE CENTRAL DISTRICT
As part of Government’s commitment to strengthening food security, promoting practical agricultural education, and transforming educational institutions into centres of both learning and production, the Feed Ghana Programme was launched in the Amansie Central District on 13th April 2026. The launch was marked by the distribution of bags of fertilizer to selected schools across the district.
Addressing participants, the District Chief Executive (DCE) noted that the initiative is intended to support schools in cultivating nutritious food crops for school feeding programmes, generating supplementary income to meet institutional needs, and equipping students with practical agricultural skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
The DCE emphasized that the support provided comes with a responsibility on the part of the beneficiary schools. He urged headteachers and school management teams of the twenty selected schools to ensure the judicious use of the fertilizers by adhering to best agronomic practices, developing effective planting schedules, maintaining proper records, and actively involving students in farming activities. He further encouraged schools to prioritize crops that address the nutritional needs of pupils while being suitable for the local soil and climatic conditions.
He also called on agricultural coordinators and educators to take advantage of the programme by transforming school farms into practical learning centres. According to him, hands-on agricultural education reinforces classroom instruction, instills discipline, and inspires the next generation of agripreneurs, thereby contributing to sustainable agricultural development in the district and the country as a whole.
