THE ORIENTATION FOR 2022/2023 NATIONAL SERVICE PERSONNEL AT NANA ADU DARKO COMMUNITY CENTRE ON THE 24TH JANUARY, 2023.
An orientation program was organised for 2022/2023 National Service Personnel on 24th January 2023, at Nana Adu Darko Community Centre Jacobu.
The objective of the one-day programme which was organised by Amansie Central office of National Service Scheme(NSS) was to make service personnel familiarize with work ethics and the importance of doing National Service.
Speaking at the programme, the AMANSIE Central District Assistant Human Resource manager,Mrs BERTHA KONADU advised all personnel to be hard working and punctual to their place of service. They should try as much as possible to be punctual at work to be more productive and always subdue themselves to their authorities.
On the other hand Assistant Director 1 for Amansie Central District, Mrs. Janet Dwereboah Odoi also called on all personnel to accept postings to wherever their service will be needed. She admonished the personnel not to see the period as just a yearly formality but a well-designed programme to prepare them for the job market.
The Education Human Resource Manager for Amansie Central District, mr. George Mensah speaking on the topic “The role of National Service Personnel at Education Sector “,advised all personnel to obey the laid down rules and regulations in any institution they found themselves. He called on the personnel to give mutual respect and willing to work without expecting monetary gains in order to leave a legacy in the District.
In his address, Mr. Douglas Osei Mensah the District Director of NSS said National Service in Ghana is mandatory and established by an act of parliament with the mandate to supplement the manpower shortfall in both public and private sectors of the country.
He added that, the new vision of the National Service Scheme is “DEPLOYMENT FOR EMPLOYMENT “.This new vision came up because of the high populace of graduate students who do not get any form of employment after their mandatory National Service.
He said the current vision is a step in the right direction as the scheme is aiming at helping institutions employ some of their service personnel after their service period.
He said in view of the new mission, the scheme has developed a programme dubbed the Nss Techlab,Agriculture, Accounting Aid, Housing,Education and entrepreneurial training programmes.
He however warned the personnel that payment of service allowance would be based strictly of submission of the monthly evaluation forms and that any service personnel who failed to submit the forms after deadline would have to forgo his or her allowance for the said month or experience delayed in payment.
Finally, he explained to them the issue concerning their monthly evaluation forms and e-zwich payment system which includes how to access and fill their evaluation forms.
