THE NATIONAL SERVICE PERSONNEL ASSOCIATION 2022/2023 BATCH ORGANISED A BRAINY MATHS AND SCIENCE QUIZ COMPETITION FOR JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN AMANSIE CENTRAL DISTRICT.
The National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) of Amansie Central District has organized Math and Science quiz competition for seven Junior High Schools in the District at Nana Adu-Darko community centre on 31st May, 2023. The contesting schools included Methodist JHS, SDA JHS, R/C JHS, Experimental D/A JHS, Abrafi Mansa JHS, Amansie Royals JHS and Biribiwomang JHS.
The competition was aimed at promoting the study of Math, Science and all other subjects in the District.
Speaking at the programme was Mr. Douglas Osei Mensah District NSS Director, asked the students to take keen interest in the study of maths and science because it promotes healthy brain function, improves problem solving, sharpens our memory and gives the opportunity to better know and understand how and why things function.
He encouraged the students that, like all other subjects, the students should take the study of maths and science seriously because Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM) related programs like computer science, biomedical engineering among others are the future and also helps us to solve the challenges the world faces today.
Speaking on kessben Media was Nana Pokuaah Amoako Education Director at the District advised the students to take their learning seriously because per the way they answered the questions they can do more better.
She said because of galamsey and okada activities in the District, there has been a rampant absenteeism of the students so the parents should take their responsibilities rather than leaving the students to take care of themselves.
She also commended NASPA for the quiz competition and called for its sustainance.
At the end of the competition, Methodist JHS came first with 42points, followed by SDA JHS with 21.5points, R/C JHS secured third position with 19.5points.
Among the performing schools who grapped awards include Methodist JHS who took the 1st prize home, a computer, number of mathematical sets, exercise books and pens while the 2nd prize winner went to Jacobu SDA JHS who took graph board, number of mathematical sets ,exercise books and pens with the 3rd prize Jacobu R/C JHS grabbed an award of set of drawing instruments, number of mathematical sets ,exercises books and pens.
All participating students were given number of exercise books, mathematical set and pens.
The quiz was sponsored by Akrokerri Goldstone limited mines, Amansie Central District Assembly and NASPA.
