THE MANAGEMENT OF AMANSIE CENTRAL DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HELD A MEETING ON WEDNESDAY 21ST MAY, 2025 AT THE HON. DCE’s OFFICE.
DCD’s Opening Remarks
The DCD welcomed everyone to the meeting. He said the reason for the meeting for the introduce the District Chief Executive to the Heads of Department and the Heads to the District Chief Executive.
Departments and Units in the Assembly
The DCD briefly mentioned to the DCE the various departments and units under the Assembly. He said there are fifteen (15) departments which are Central Administration, Human Resource Department, Finance Department, Social Welfare and Community Development Department, Department of Housing, Statistics Department, Works Department, Physical Planning Department, Trade and Industry, National Disaster Management Organization, District Education Directorate, Youth and Sports, Wildlife and Conservation.
He said the Department of Central Administration is currently headed by Madam Janet Dwereboa Odoi. The DCD said under the Central Administration, there is Budget unit, Procurement unit, Planning unit, Security unit, Records Management unit, Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit, Stores, MIS and Transport Unit. He also mentioned the various units and their heads. He said the Human Resource Department has no unit under it but has a staff strength of three (3). He also said the Finance Department has no unit under it but works with the Revenue Mobilization Unit has a staff strength of three (3) of which two (2) are permanent staff, one (1) IGF staff and three (3) National Service Personnel.
The DCD said the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development has seven (7) staff of which two (2) are females and five (5) are males. He said the Department of Housing is yet to be established in the district and the Department of Births and Deaths has one (1) permanent staff and the Department of Statistics has one (1) staff. He also said the Department of Works has six (6) staff and the Department of Agriculture has seventeen (17) staff and five (5) National Service Personnel whiles the Physical Planning Unit has three (3) staff, Internal Audit has five (5) staff and there is also the Transport Unit headed by madam Janet Dwereboa Odoi and Department of Disaster Management which is NADMO.
He also briefly explained that, there are decentralized departments which are the Department of Education, Youth and Sports which is overseen by the District Education Directorate heade by
Mr. Vincent Ben Ameyaw and the Department of Health overseen by the District Education Directorate headed by Mr. Oppong Ampratwum Ahmed. He also said there is Department of Natural Resources, Conservation, Forestry, Game and Wildlife which is overseen by the Forestry Department.
The DCD said currently there is one hundred and seventeen (117) staff of which eighty-two are on Government of Ghana payroll, sixteen (16) are IGF staff and seventeen (17) are on Department of Agriculture payroll.
The DCD explained that, the non-decentralized departments do their own validation.
Composition of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC)
The DCD said the composition of the RCC includes the Regional Minister, all Presiding Members within the region, all Chief Executives within the region, two (2) chiefs from regional house of chiefs, heads of decentralized departments within the region and the Chief Director (Regional Co-ordinating Director) who is the secretary.
DISEC/MUSEC
The DCD informed the DCE that, he will chair DISEC meetings which includes all the Security Agencies in the district.
DCE’s Closing Remarks
The DCE thanked everyone for coming. He emphasized that, his success will depend on management and what they do as a team. He encouraged everyone to work hard and added that, he will demand a lot from each and every one. Stating that, this is his first political office and that he has an open policy and encouraged us to work as a team. He is open to advice from us.
