AMANSIE CENTRAL DISTRICT ASSEMBLY SUPPORTS 41 PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
As has been the practice in recent years, various forms of support—including economic empowerment, educational assistance, caregiver support, and health and medical aid—were extended to persons with disabilities in the Amansie Central District in 2025. Yesterday, a programme was held at the forecourt of the District Assembly to engage members of the disability community, brief them on interventions undertaken so far, and distribute support items to selected beneficiaries.
What distinguishes this year’s intervention is the significant increase in the number of beneficiaries, which rose from fewer than 20 in previous years to 41 in 2025. The total amount disbursed reached GH¢244,500, reflecting His Excellency President Mahama’s commitment to substantially increase allocations to the Disability Fund and expand support for persons with disabilities. Notably, this is the highest amount ever recorded for disability support in the District.
Items distributed included refrigerators, deep freezers, sewing machines, tricycles, and other equipment, all procured based on requests from members of the Disabled Association to promote economic empowerment and self-reliance. In addition, some beneficiaries and caregivers received direct cash support to revive or expand their businesses.
Funds from the 2025 Disability Fund were also used to settle medical bills, support surgical procedures, and facilitate the acquisition of prosthetic devices, among other interventions. These efforts underscore the Government’s commitment to ensuring inclusivity, leaving no one behind in its reset agenda, and building the Ghana we all aspire to achieve.
