SOD CUTTING CEREMONY OF 24 HOUR ECONOMY MODEL MARKET

A sod-cutting ceremony was held at Mile 9 on 3rd June 2026, marking the official commencement of the construction of the 24-Hour Economy Model Market. Following the ceremony, the project site was formally handed over to the contractor to begin construction works.

The project fulfills a key campaign promise made by President John Dramani Mahama and forms part of the government’s broader strategy to implement the 24-Hour Economy Policy. The construction of 24-Hour Economy Model Markets across the country is aimed at promoting continuous economic activity, creating employment opportunities, improving market infrastructure, and enhancing local economic development.

The Mile 9 Model Market is expected to serve as a catalyst for trade and commerce in the area, providing a modern and conducive environment for businesses to operate around the clock while contributing to the socio-economic growth of the district.
